newsletter 29-2011

Dear Friends of the ESG,

and, I admit it: EG 13 is one of my favorite songs. As I was looking forward, when I visited on Sunday in a small rural community of the church and the brass band “Tochter Zion” has sung. I like this song, not only because of the melody, but especially because of the content: a powerful plea to God, to rule against the evidence and the world on one side, and on the other hand, the expression of our deep attachment to the Jewish faith. And the messianic promises apply to the smallest rural community and for each of us. Our expectation has a large and magnificent goal. Allem bei der Trouble “Christmas” should not be forgotten: Advent and the expectations have their own dignity.

On Wednesday there will be after the ESG service and dinner (both in recent weeks as enjoyable well attended!) an introduction to the work “Esther” of G.F. Handel give (Introduction to Handel's biography, in the work musically and in content and in the biblical tradition of Esther). The ESG is currently developed choir will perform this piece, and then the end of the semester.

I must again invite you to visit the Center for Art and Media Technology in Karlsruhe, where we want to visit the local ESG. Please register or to the secretary or sign you hung out in the lists, so that we know, how many will go with. Start is Sunday early afternoon.

Sunday we will celebrate Mass in St. Peter's Church. We look forward, the dean of the church district of Heidelberg Dr. Welcome Marlene Schwöbel Hug a preacher to be allowed. The Wind Ensemble will play music of the ESG (which indeed has always worth a visit!).

Perhaps I should also point out once in three events, the outside of our own responsibilities lie:

The SMD held on Wednesday in an auditorium lecture on the topic of the NU “new atheism”, Starts at 19.30 Clock.

The Catholic Chaplaincy invites you to a big event with Dr. Manfred Luetz, the well-known physician, Health critic and book author (?), the cabaret health mania will have to tackle: Friday evening, also in the NU.

And finally, the student council organizes Theology / Religious Education College of Education an Advent service: Monday, 5. December, 19.00 Clock in the auditorium of the Old PH, Kepplerstraße.

I wish you all mindful way through the season of Advent. Welcome, Your / Yours, Hans-Georg Ulrichs.
